Ticktock Pictures and Light Organ Records are proud to announce the new video for “Silver Light,” by openly gay Vancouver-based electro-pop recording artist Frederick. The video actually came together quite by chance. Fred Kuhr - half of Ticktock Pictures, which produced the video - stumbled upon the track on a Spotify playlist and was instantly hypnotized by its haunting melody and arresting vocals. The closer he listened, the more he realized that this was a love song from one man to another. The lyrics told the story of heartbreak from an openly gay man who was being rejected by a lover not yet ready to come out of the closet. Kuhr then searched online to find traces of Frederick, a recording artist he’d never heard of - and discovered that he was indeed gay, and a fellow Canadian as well. Kuhr and his partner Brad McDermott then contacted Frederick directly - they found an email address online - and Frederick loved the concept of the video they proposed. They had his blessing to move forward. While the song is based in part on a true story of love loss due to internalized homophobia, the video takes the narrative one step further. In the video, a man returns to his hometown for the funeral of his male high school sweetheart, and has to confront the family that didn’t know their secret as well as his own feelings of loss and regret.
