Edward (Jed Shardlow) – destroyed by the breakdown of his relationship, and the death of his father – learns of a revolutionary device called an Exit Chip, which allows the recipient to die in secret, while the body continues on as a shell. The Exit Chip offers Edward a way out; a way to escape his suffering without leaving his recently widowed mother (Jane Booker) and sisters behind. Resigned to his last day alive, a chance encounter with a girl called Mae (Sarah Schoenbeck), a woman who is both confident and self-destructive, changes the time he has left, and challenges his understanding of love and happiness.
